Venous blood sample collection
It is the most commonly required blood sample. It is the most commonly required blood sample. Most standard tests are conducted on this, which is directly obtained from the vein.
Site of the collection-
Requirements-
1. Tourniquet.
2. Syringe.
3. Alcohol swab.
4. Bandage /medi-plast.
Procedure:
1. Ask the patient to sit on the chair & hand of the table.
2. Sterile the site & vein.
3. Apply a tourniquet around the arm.
4. Check the syringe & needle.
5. Push the needle at (a 30°-45°) angle at 1-1.5° cm depth on the cubital vein.
6. When the blood appears in the needle collect the blood
7. Apply the cotton on the hidden point & remove the syringe.
8. Remove the tourniquet

- Cephalic vein
- Basilic Vein
- Median anteBrachial vein
- Median antecubital vein
- Dorsal hand vein
- Foot veins
- Subclavian vein
- Femoral vein
